Take pictures
Take pictures of your vehicle and the damage that you sustained. If there was another vehicle involved take pictures for their vehicle as well. If you are at fault, taking pictures of their vehicle will ensure that your insurance coverage is paying only for the damage that occurred during your accident.
Trade Insurance Info
Make sure that you get a picture or a copy of the other drivers insurance card. Even if the card is out-of-date or expired. It would also be a good idea to get a picture of the drivers license.
Request Police Report
The police officer that is assigned to attending to your accident will provide you with information for you to obtain a police report. Should they forget to do this make sure you ask for instructions on how to obtain one. It is also a good idea to write down the name of the officer just in case you need to contact them in the future.
